Business and Linkedin Studio Headshots:

/ / / / / opt for off white

When given the choice, we prefer to tint our white background to a slightly warm shade of yellow, and always, always avoid over brightening the backdrop.

The fact of the matter is, it’s not Y2K anymore, and the need for a portrait against a bright white cheeky background reminiscent of a stock photo—is dying. That’s one vintage aesthetic we don’t want coming back in style any time soon, as it’s not flattering to any complexion (let alone someone with white hair!)

Couple and Family Portrait in the Studio:

/ / / / / pets are welcome!

Complete your family portrait and bring your pets along for the fun! Make the photo comes alive with the addition of your furry friend. How cute does this couple look with their new baby along the way, and their current baby, Benji the husky pup?

For couple photoshoots, one tip we have is to consider matching the outfit with your partner. It doesn't have to be straight forward matchy matchy, but rather a similarity in the tone of style is key (for example casual, formal, or semi-formal) should always be taken into consideration.

Corporate and Business Headshots:

/ / / / / choose between a vertical or horizontal portrait!

As a base, we take all our headshots in a horizontal (or landscape) orientation. That gives us the most flexibility to crop the photo if needed, like in the example above.

Although most would agree that a vertical shot is intimidating since the focus is directly on their face, with no place for their eyes to escape, up close and personal.

Despite that, it’s still an ideal way to remove any distractions and get straight to the point—which is that a headshot should be focused on your head first and foremost, and not your body!

Professional Headshots and Portrait for Artists and Musicians:

In this photoshoot with Clara, we started off nice and easy by shooting her business headshot against a grey background. Since she booked the Professional Package, she had enough time to switch the background and her wardrobe and go casual for her second look.

We encouraged the use of a black background, which is our go to option when it comes to creating a moody and artistic portrait. Since the images were going to be used on social media, we threw the rules out the window and even suggested having a seat on the floor with out shoes to make her look and feel comfortable.

Corporate and Personal Portrait and Headshots:

/ / / / / with multiple outfit changes, go from business to business casual

Most of our packages come with the option to change your outfit. Even if you don’t have two suits you want to try on, feel free to bring a set of casual clothes or business casual to mix it up! These days we often get people expressing their desire to get an updated social media photo that’s not a selfie.

We tend get the business headshots out of the way first, and finish with the casual shots after your expression has warmed up.

Business and Corporate Headshots Outdoors:

/ / / / /

Make your corporate headshots feel more alive by using a clean brick background. With the Corporate/Business Package, you have enough time to shoot indoors and outdoors!

Although we are in the midst of winter, on days when the weather is tolerable and not minus double digits, it’s still realistic to consider this as an option.

No need to travel by foot to get to this spot either, as it’s conveniently located right next to the studio’s entrance. A quick 3 minute session against this wall is enough time to get a handful of images (before your body can even adjust to the cold temperature!)

Although it may seem like a boring choice at first, shoot against our off white background and experience the flexibility it has. With a couple clicks you have the option of having us turn it into a bright white, with pumped up highlights blowing out the background reminiscent of a cheesy stock photo (should your company require that style of course).

Check out our homepage for examples of how a white background can also become something else with photoshop. Customize your corporate portrait and have us add a window or city view in the background!

On Location Business and Corporate Headshots:

/ / / / / *new blurry background clipping service

The other day we had a little photoshoot field trip on location to an office up north of our studio in the downtown east end. The company requested we shoot against their large office window to make the photos bright and cheerful for their website. The shapes of the building in the background had enough graphic elements to be interesting but not distracting.

If you like this look and wish you could have an office with a view for your portrait, it is still is possible, all the while without ever stepping foot in the office. We offer a photo clipping service to change the background . We offer a variety of blurry and environmental scenes, from more abstract to more “in the office” types. Check our home page for more details !
