Laura Jeanne is an Asthanga yoga teacher who needed some branding photos for her website. She booked the Complete Package, where she went all out with variation starting from formal and ending up in athletic wear. With less time pressure and unlimited changes, she was free to experiment with different outfits and props at her own pace. Definitely this softly distressed warm toned shirt was amongst the best looks of the day, as it was harmonious yet contrasting to the vivid green tones we were working with on location.
Here’s a classic look that has been taken down a notch into casual territory, simply by abandoning the tie! When in doubt, a well fitted black jacket and crisp white shirt can never do you wrong, especially when you’re trying to make a fresh first impression. We brightened the background here ever so slightly than in our other soft white horizontal orientation, to create more of an impact in this tightly cropped portrait.
Marlee was looking to get her headshot updated for an audition in musical theatre. She required the photo to be delivered with a frame and in 8x10 format to get printed. For no extra charge, we can do simple thing like that, considering that it took less than a few minutes. Don't hesitate to ask what we services we offer for your photography.
In Marlee's case, she had her own means of printing her headshot, but did you know we also offer high ends prints of a variety of sizes, with our most common being 8x10. We recommend our printing services for modelling portfolios, acting headshots, and professional portraits for your self or as a gift.
Here's a quick headshot we took in our studio against our soft white background. Adi did come equipped with anti flare glasses already, though despite that, there still ended up being the slightest bit of flare, Due to the nature of glasses, they also often make a shadow on the face due to the frame, of which we completely softened in this portrait (can you tell—probably not!)
Whether it be strong or subtle, in most cases we can clean up whatever distractions there may be in your image. Feel free to specify or let us take care of those little details for you!
The other day we shot a male fashion portrait, which is essentially a portrait with advanced lighting, and fashion inspired poses. Besides knowing what clothes read best on camera, we also have a couple technical tricks up our sleeve. Essentially the basics of portrait photography is that women should have less information on their skin, and men should have enhanced definition. When we were lighting and editing this photo, we kept in mind that principle and pumped up the contrast which emphasized the shadows.
Is it grey? Is it charcoal? No! It's our pure black! You'd be amazed if you knew how flexible each backdrop is in terms of range of lightness depending on how the set is lit. Upon confirming your session, we send you a list of all background options available, and encourage you to be open minded and try out something other than the typical white or grey. Even with those backdrops, depending on how much we lighten or darken the midtones and highlights, we can create different shades of grey to suit or stand out against whatever outfit you happen to be wearing. Need a little help with what looks best for your purpose? Just ask and we would be happy to guide you in the right direction.
Sometimes it works for your business portrait to be on the low key end. Depending on the purpose and intention of your shoot, different expressions might suit. In this case, we give the example of the most low key pose you can do, straight on.
Don't get us wrong, as abrupt as it may be, it also makes for an instinctively approachable first impression, albeit in a completely different way than an angled pose. With face on shots, there's nothing to hide and you have all your cards on the table. This psychologically evokes trust, and straight forwardness, which is ultimately an attractive quality in humans!
Laura Jeanne is a Ashtanga Yoga instructor and wanted some photos to use on her website both of her portrait and her practice. In order to get an organic feeling and make the photos more artistic rather than instructional, we took the shoot outdoors for half the session. Since Laura got our Complete package, we had enough time to do so comfortably. When shooting outdoors, the flow tends to be disrupted more often, so we provide comfort in the ability to add on extra shooting time if things end up going well on the day of your session.
